Show D.K. Holm where your heart is

Today I learned three things about Oregon-based blogger, columnist and published author D.K. Holm. I learned that:

1.) his first name is Doug
2.) he was born in 1953
3.) he has cancer.

Word is getting out in the blogging community that D.K. is up against what is described as a very treatable form of esophageal cancer but that complicating his recovery is the unfortunate fact that he, like so many Americans, is uninsured and unable to pay what is likely to turn into a mountain of bills related to his treatment.

D.K. Holm is just one of those great monikers that sticks in the mind above and beyond his diligence, dedication and talent as a writer. He's been on my radar for a few years now (but only a tick of the clock of his long career) due to his presence on The Mobius Home Video Forum and GreenCineDaily. As writers about cinema, we tend to block out the minutiae of the real world in favor of the minutiae of the reel world, spending our days spinning the intangible into concrete... only to turn around and find our physical, outer worlds rocked from an event we never saw coming. We're still mourning the unexpected deaths of Linn Haynes and Paul Arthur and feeling the cumulative loss of brain power and heart from their passing.

If you know and admire D.K.'s work and want to help (or if you've never heard of him and just want to do a little bit of good), click here to find out where to send that check.

Arbo - I clicked on the link that is supposed to send you to an address to help out but it just sends you to a blogger log-in. Could you put the address up instead or send it to me? Thanks.
